Jeffrey Johnson, PhD - Primary Investigator

Dr. Johnson is a pharmacist and health outcomes researcher in the School of Public Health, University of Alberta.  He holds a Canada Research Chair in Diabetes Health Outcomes and a Health Scholar award from the Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research.  He chairs the Alliance for Canadian Health Outcomes Research in Diabetes (ACHORD), a group of multi-disciplinary researchers with interests in epidemiologic, pharmacoepidemiologic, cost and economic evaluations, and alternative care delivery strategies in diabetes. Dr. Johnson is interested the assessment of the quality of health care delivery on health outcomes in diabetes, including studies of drug use in the population, assessing health-related quality of life and economic outcomes, and in the evaluation of policies and alternative care delivery strategies to improve the efficiency and quality of care in diabetes.

Stephanie Balko, MSc - Project Manager

Stephanie has a background in nursing from the University of Alberta.  After practicing at the bedside for a couple of years, she decided to pursue graduate studies.  Stephanie received a Master’s Degree in the Department of Public Health Sciences and graduated in 2006, specializing in Epidemiology.  She has been with the Alliance for Canadian Health Outcomes Research in Diabetes since then and enjoys managing the Alberta Diabetes Surveillance System project.

 

 

Greg Hugel, MSc - Data Analyst

Greg was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan. In 1997, he finished his BSc in Mathematics and BSc in Statistics at the University of Regina. Greg worked in the Actuarial Department at Crown/Canada Life Insurance Company before completing his Master of Science degree in Statistics at the University of Calgary in 2000. After graduating from the University of Calgary, Greg moved to Toronto to work as a Statistician for a market research company called ACNielsen from January 2001 to December 2002. Greg moved back to Regina and started working for the Government of Saskatchewan as the Senior Statistician. In October 2005, Greg moved to work for the City of Calgary in the Assessment Department.  Greg is happy working for the ACHORD Group as the Alberta Diabetes Surveillance System Data Analyst.

Sherry Lydynuik - Office Coordinator

Sherry Lydynuik joined the ACHORD Group in April of 2006. From 1996 - 2006, she worked at the University of Alberta Campus in the Ocular Genetics Laboratory, Department of Ophthalmology. Sherry provides ongoing administrative support to the ACHORD Group.
